Japanese
Translators for Attorneys
| As an attorney, you make
your living with words. You are going to represent or advise
your client with words. Your client depends on you to understand
him/her and provide the best representation or advice.
But, what if you and your client don't speak
the same language? What if you speak English, but your client
speaks Japanese? Perhaps your client is an Japanese-speaking shop
owner in the USA and needs a lease negotiated. Or, perhaps your
client has much higher stakes due to the current world
situation. What can you do to ensure you fairly represent your
client?
One approach is to have your client write
things in Japanese and you take those writings to someone else to
translate for you. This presents three problems:
- A violation of attorney-client
confidentiality.
- Slow and cumbersome method.
- Exposure to aiding and abetting.
This third problem bears some explanation.
An attorney in her 60s was convicted, in 2005, of aiding and
abetting terrorists. She carried communication from her jailed
clients to the outside world. You don't want even the appearance
of this.
The cure to all three problems is an
electronic translation device. Not only do they greatly facilitate communication and reduce
misunderstandings, but they help you preserve your legal
status as an officer of the court.
The device you want is the iTravl translator. Here are some
reasons why:
- It's designed the the same PDA standards as
the other devices you are probably already using, so the learning curve is
flattened significantly.
- It's expandable. Simply buy an inexpensive
SD card, and you add a second language--or even an entire set
of languages.
- It's the best value in a translation device.
- It's even more affordable when you need
multiple languages.
iTravl vs. low-cost tourist devices
While most translation devices seem like a bargain
because of their low price, you don't even get what you pay for. Those
devices are pretty much useless for your work, because they have very
limited vocabularies and phrases designed for basic tourist functions.
The 800 is designed for communication. The cheap units are a complete
waste of your money, because for you they serve no purpose.
An iTravl, on the other hand, provides very high
value. |
